Title: Use of new electric motor technologies in design and operation of advanced, fuel optimal vessels

At present, there is a high attention and effort ongoing in research and development of new electric motor concepts for use in ship's propulsion plants.

Super conducting materials, fuel cells, and advanced motor designs with high power and torque density and high power efficiency are being reported as promising technologies for marine applications.

The objectives of this study are to summarize the status of the research and development activities and initiatives on the new technologies for electric propulsion. Further, the results shall be used to assess these technologies in two different ship applications; 170,000 m3 LNG carrier, and 15,000 DWT chemical tankers.

The following shall be considered:
- Design and configuration of the propulsion machinery space
- Efficiency and fuel consumption assessment of the alternative concepts
- Environmental assessment of the alternative concepts
- Operational constraints and limitations in today's technology - and In view of forecasted developments
- Cost analysis, as is - and forecasted development Equipment cost, vessel costs, and operational costs (LCC)

Morro på flyplassen

Her er vi på flyplassen, og da er det bra der er litt leikeapparat, og hva passar ikkje bedre en et fly !
